I’ve been working on my morning routine again, adapting it for the new early time the boys get on the bus. They have to be at the bus stop at 6:40AM!!! This is their first year at the middle school and we’re all getting used to the early mornings. I will admit it does make me very productive.
I did decide this week I need to work on my approximate timings for my work from home days of my morning routine. It’s helping keep me on track for being ready for work. I’m still work from home 50% of the time right now and I do enjoy that flexibility, but I work hard to be productive at my corporate job from home. This week I did not go in the office at all with all the craziness around the boys getting ready for school every morning and having to get caught up on other stuff that needs to be taken care of at home.
Here are the approximate timings I’ve been working on this week with the things I want to accomplish in the morning:
- 5:45AM – wake up start coffee, put dishes on drying rack away, fill up boys and DH water bottles
- 6AM – wake up boys, empty dishwasher, setup breakfast for boys (cereal or bagels), make sure backpacks are fully together if any Chromebooks were charging the night before
- After boys eat breakfast, they need to brush teeth
- 6:35AM – boys grab masks walk out door (me with my coffee) to wait for the bus
- 6:40-6:45AM – bus pickup
- After boys on bus, go to kitchen and finish cleaning up any dishes to go in the dishwasher
- 7AM – start SAVERS (this is from the book The Miracle Morning, I find these principles help me with my anxiety/stress and feeling like I took time for me!) – first is meditation (Silence), Affirmations and Visualization – “SAV”
- 7:15 – Read PD book and coffee – I like to do the “R” before the “E” as I like to read and drink my coffee
- 7:30 – make bed and Exercise (20-30 minutes yoga)
- 8AM – shower, get dressed put on makeup (I only wash my hair every other day)
- 8:40AM – ready for day, Make protein shake (I personally love the vegan shakes and mix with 8oz of unsweetened original almond milk and 4-8oz of water), put out vitamins
- 8:45AM – log into work, write my gratitude and goals in my bullet journal. This is my final item of the SAVERS – final “S” for scribe
I’m really happy this week I’ve made time to do yoga every morning. I really love the yoga videos on Beachbody on Demand. I’ve taken a lot of different in person yoga classes over the past two decades and I’ve loved some, laughed at others, but all the yoga instructors on BOD are amazing! I love how they get the alignment right. To me alignment is the most important part. Otherwise you aren’t helping yourself and you could get hurt!
Hope everyone else is enjoying their back to school time! How are you adjusting your routines as you go from summer to back to school? Or is their no adjustment needed to your routines at all?
