In an effort to be caught up with where we are today, I’m going to cover the entire month of October in one post. It was a busy month! We’ll start off with me working from home. I really loved the home office setup in the first AirBnB house we stayed at. It had an entire room at the front of the house for an office and a great desk setup. I think it’s because this place was not designed as an AirBnB, rather it was someone’s house and they went to Portugal to visit family for an extended time. This I found out the longer we were there. Here’s the great setup I had with all my monitors and laptop!
The pink blotter is mine. I bought it so I wouldn’t mess up their desk as I never really have time for lunch and eat my lunch through meetings.
We got into a good routine of the boys walking to school, me working from home, and Tom working downtown. Then I found out the industry group I’m in IAPP (I do Privacy work these days) was having a conference downtown and one of my co-workers scored me free tickets. It was great to do something different and drive downtown with Tom everyday. I was also able to see my manager and said co-worker all week. Not bad considering I didn’t think I’d see my co-workers much after this move! I have pics with the folks that I’m not sharing here, but these are some downtown Austin pics:
After that week of working downtown, Tom and I had our 28th wedding anniversary. We love to try new French restaurants and this one did not disappoint. We had reservations, but all they had was in the middle of the room. So we decided if we were going to be in the middle of everything, we would stay at the bar for dinner, where we had already started with drinks. Everything was so yummy and fun, we would definitely go back here again!
After that weekend, I had a work trip for our team annual planning. Again a lot of pictures I’m not going to share, but I love my new suitcase I bought (since I will be doing a lot more traveling with us moving to TX) and I love this pic of me one of my co-workers took.
And we ended the month, but taking the boys first plane ride to go to Philly to watch the Union play the MLS Eastern Conference Finals and win!!!! We’re going to miss these seats, our season tickets, and I’ll miss my friend we made that sat next to us all these years!!!
While we were back on the East Coast, I was also able to get my hair colored by my stylist in Wilmington, DE. I still at this point need to find someone new in Austin. This game was on Sunday evening, and our flight was Monday morning, so the boys missed school. We did get home to Austin around lunchtime, but then it took some time to get my car jumped at the airport by AAA, as my battery died after sitting still over the weekend. However, we did get back in time to get everything ready for trick or treating. They didn’t miss anything at school, as we knew ahead of this trip that the schools here do not allow costumes on Halloween. We sat out with candy and the boys we finally got out the door to go meet some friends. I definitely think this was the last year with their lack of interest!
Question for ya’ll… what age did your kids stop trick or treating? Also, do your schools allow costumes for Halloween, and where are you located?
