I’m leaving the “Hello world” title to this post, as I do work with technology in my corporate day-to-day gig and “Hello world” does mean something to me. It means a beginning, the first version of a software delivery. I had another blog since 2004, but that was my infertility blog that turned into something else. This blog is my new beginning as those days are over. I also feel the world and my world changing with COVID times. I’ve been working from home 100% of the time and I don’t see when I would be going back into the office setting anytime soon. I’m using this change in work structure to make changes in my life, improving myself every day to be the best version of me.
My prior infertility blog did use the name Joys In My Life as well, and I’m so glad I used that name from the start, as that is what it became … me talking about all the things in life that gave me joy. I get great joy from my family, my darling husband of over 25 years, my daughter and later our twin boys as they arrived in 2009. I receive joy from the food my husband and I make and sharing that delicious food with our family and friends. My husband makes amazing gourmet meals, but I’m usually the one looking at food for it’s more heath benefits. I have quite the selection of clean eating cookbooks that I’ll use for inspiration often. I also love the feeling my body gets from exercising, not that I love exercising, though. I’m definitely not a gym rat and I don’t feel super excited to get out of bed to exercise every morning. I want to work out more though, as I love how it makes me feel … confident, less stressed and achy. I love yoga, walking, running, my elliptical machine and online workouts. I receive a lot of joy from taking care of my house: organizing, cleaning, gardening and decorating projects. I really did get a kick out of reading Marie Kondo’s book and learning to ask myself the question “Does this spark joy?” As I’ve been after finding joy in my life for ages.
This new blog I’m creating here will be to discuss how I’m focusing on these joys in my life during COVID times and beyond. I will discuss how I’m using my work from home time to improve my life as we move forward into these uncharted territories of the future. I will also turn 50 next March, and I’d like to use these months to show up on my 50th birthday with the life I’ve always wanted. I can’t wait to see how I show up on that day!
