Hi ya’ll! I still have things to catch you all up on how things went down getting out of Pennsylvania. Here are some pics from when the moving company came to put all our things in storage.
It was an exhausting day! First off, I went to bed at 4:30AM that morning, as I had things that couldn’t fit into the POD that still needed to be packed. I was then up 2 hours later, as they were coming at 7AM. It was slated to be a super hot day this day and they wanted to get done before it got way too hot in the afternoon.
One thing I have to say about the moving company, the movers were super nice, but the office staff, those that were setting up the move, not so much. I feel like they acted like moving cross country is something everyone does. They did an interview with me on what needed to move over a Zoom call taking pictures as I walked around, but then shot me over an invoice with no follow up and no other options. It would have been nice if they called and asked if we had any questions and maybe talked about some other options. At first we wanted them to pack and move everything, but then realized we’d have no access to our stuff when we were in Austin. So we went with the POD from that other company, and then found out from their movers that they also offer a POD option too. I told them, their staff didn’t tell me that, so we went a different way. Not my fault, LOL.
I didn’t take a ton of pictures while they were packing stuff up, as I didn’t want to creep them out. Also knew if the movers were in the pictures, I wouldn’t post them anywhere. That would be rude on people’s privacy while they were working.
The movers were wrapping up around 1pm, which was good, as the heat on a late-July day was getting rough. As they were giving me paperwork while I was sitting at the kitchen island (the only chairs left in the house!), I could tell how tired I was. I was literally the walking dead after finishing packing the POD and then getting ready for these movers. Up until that moment I was running off pure adrenaline of needing to get through these few days.
After they left, I went upstairs, blew up an air mattress in my now empty bedroom, grabbed a pillow and comforter I made sure was not packed, and passed out around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Now I could rest until the next phase of this move was coming! Contractors to get this house in shape for us to sell it!
For those of you in the small reader base I have right now, have you been through a cross country move? Is this normal to feel like the moving company talks to you like you know what you are doing, or did you get more hand holding? I will admit, I like my hand held in times like these!
