We got the results back from the COVID tests my husband (DH) and kids had on Monday. DH is positive and the kids are all negative. We were not surprised that DH was positive, but it also did a good test of the type of test they did. The COVID test I had last week, they put waaaayyyy up my nose, like everyone hears about. The test they did on DH and the kids was just swabbing right inside both nostrils not going that far up. My daughter was very confused and even called the office to make sure, as she’s had numerous COVID tests in college in Alabama and they were all negative, but they also went way up the nose. The office told her it was a new kind of test. If DH was negative, we would have questioned the validity of that test, as he lost his taste and smell the same time I did, so we knew he was positive.
So … we’re still in our rooms, drinking lots of fluids and our daughter brings us food when we call. She sanitized the downstairs a few days ago and we are staying away from the kids. They will get tested again on Monday, Jan 4th, which is also when I get to go back to work. We should be done quarantine on Jan 2nd or 3rd. Depends on when we are officially symptom-free for 24 hours. They say not to wait for taste and smell to come back, but we both have a congested cough still and don’t want that around. We’ll see how we feel later in the week.
