Sweet Dreams are Made of These

I’m off work this week and thank goodness! There is so much to get done. I keep remembering our sweet dreams will be accomplished with lots of hard work. I keep remembering what my introverted neighbor said at the beginning of the pandemic, that she was made for this. I am made for this. Lots of tasks, coordinating schedules, follow ups galore. I’m a project manager in overdrive.

That said, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed today, although I am getting a lot done. In addition to the move updates, I will be giving, we need to secure my husband a car to use in Austin, so he can stop renting one. We also need to get down to Alabama to move our daughter out of her apartment and into a storage unit. OK. I just stopped writing this post to make a list of what we need to do for that move. I feel a bit better now. This is definitely not a real vacation, even though I’m off work.

On our move to Austin there are a few decisions that have been made:

  • We have a POD arriving on Thursday. We have a quote from another moving company and it’s an arm and a leg. I think it’s just way too much. The POD is much more affordable. That said, we need to find a separate piano mover and find someone that can take the pool table and weight machine apart.
  • I submitted a request for a quote from a piano mover. Hopefully they will get back soon.
  • Our stucco inspection is back on for 7/12. That will help determine a lot of things
  • The POD will be taken away on 7/19
  • Going to work with other movers to take some things away after the POD is gone. Plan is to have the house cleaned out by 7/23
  • Looking to have contractors start work 7/25

On other news, the boys are at summer camp this week with Boy Scouts. Glad they are not missing that experience as we are in transition to a new Troop after we move to Austin. They had a lot of pre-requisites to do for the Cooking and Camping merit badges they are working on, but we pulled that all together before they left on Sunday morning. They also had Citizenship in the World signed off on that morning too. They had been working on that one for the past couple of months.

Well, I’m off to keep working on going through kitchen stuff we are taking or not taking with us. We brought up tables from the basement to sort stuff.
