December was a rough month. I’m looking forward to it being over and getting into 2022. The first full week in December the boys had really bad colds: fevers, congestion, tiredness. Must have been viruses, as the tests the doctor had done (COVID – rapid and PCR, flu and strep) all came back negative. They were home from school for a week. Thankfully, they were able to keep up with most of their schoolwork from home once they weren’t so tired.
The following week, which was also my last week of work for the year, I had the same cold. Doctor did the same tests with the same negative results. I was so tired that whole week. I would work as much as I could from home and then go to bed around 4pm most nights. My husband had to take on running the house and boys all week while I was just trying to get work done for the year end and get better. The one annoying thing is the post nasal drip and annoying cough are continuing even now. I’ve had to make this apple cider vinegar and lemon tea once a day to try to clear out the remaining congestion. My husband hates the smell of it, so I put a lid on my Yeti mug, so he doesn’t have to smell it much. Here is the recipe:
In a large mug, put 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar, juice of 1/2 lemon, 2 Tablespoons honey (or more!), and a hefty sprinkle of cinnamon. Fill to the top with hot water, stir thoroughly, and sip. I did just realize I posted about this last year post COVID, but it’s a must share as we are all still in a trying season of sickness. I’ll also be sharing our chicken noodle soup recipe soon!
We also were a lot more low key about the holiday this year. Last year this time, we were really sick and quarantined. We decorated the house for Christmas, but as a family decided not to get a Christmas tree this year. Really happy we made that decision, as we didn’t feel like we were missing anything. We were light on presents this year. Each child got one big gift they really wanted and then the boys got pajamas and our daughter got a teddy jacket she wanted. We also decided not to visit family for Christmas and we’re also glad we made that decision, as now several of them are testing positive for COVID or are quarantining waiting their test results. They didn’t even have a big family get together and they are all vaccinated, so thankfully its not too bad.
So I’m taking some time this week as we are all off work and school to do some planning for next year. I’m looking forward to things I can accomplish next year and I’ll be writing more about it all soon.
