I’ve been doing a lot of planning and beginning execution since the 1st of January, but I’ve been kind of quiet about it. I really want to make 2022 an amazing year. I do love to have a word of the year to ground me in a theme for everything I do. Last year was Freedom. And while we often did feel like we had a lot of freedom last year, I think we did work to get all the freedom we could have. I thought long and hard for this year and I thought I had a word (Thrive), but it wasn’t resonating with me the way I wanted it to.
After much deliberation and soul searching, I’ve thought of what I really want for this year … I want to GROW
I want this year to be all about growth in all aspects. I want to grow my career, which if I can do the things I’m planning on for this year, will definitely happen. I want to grow my relationship with my husband, as we continue to be closer together through these tough times and work together as a great team and best friends. I want to grow in my health, focusing on exercise and diet to help my blood pressure and cholesterol which have been creeping up. I want to grow our finances, providing us the ability to relax that everything will be OK in that area of our lives. I want to grow our relationship with our boys, helping them with the education and organizational skills they need to get through middle school. Of course, I want our relationship with our daughter to grow, but she’s over 21 now (where did time go), and I’m finding that relationship is so much different than when she lived at home and was still a child.
I’ve also worked up my goals for this year and a list of 22 in 2022 that I will be sharing with everyone this week. I’m really happy with how things are going. It’s going to be a busy year, and I’m not going to like everything I have to do, but I think when I get to the end of the year, we will be proud of the things we’ve accomplished. What I think of this year being like is a quote I’m holding onto from the Apple+ TV show Ted Lasso, “The truth shall set you free, but first it will piss you off.” BTW, I also highly recommend that show. It was the perfect feel good sitcom to watch for these days.
Have you chosen a word of the year for 2022? If so, what is it and why?
